Trainer profiles

I qualified as a driving instructor in 1985 and have worked continuously in the industry ever since. Apart from teaching learners I have also since 1989 been teaching trainee driving instructors.

I eventually became the Chief Training Officer for The Instructor College over in Southampton. My duties grew and besides looking after two more colleges I started to train others to train, trainee driving instructors. Eventually when The Instructor College became RED School of Driving I was the Chief Training Officer for the South of England.

In 2016 I joined driving-pro as Director of Instructor Training.

My qualifications include:

• ADI Grade A
• DIA Diamond Advanced Instructor
• Cardington Grade A Advanced Driver
• NVQ Assessor and Internal Verifier
• IAM Advanced Driver
• TCIT Train the Trainer
• Diploma in Driving Instruction (Dip DI)

In 1994 I initially started training instructors for a local school in Portsmouth. I now have over 30 years experience of either driving instruction or instructor training. During this time I worked with and have been guided by Glen Robbins.

After a period of time I struck out on my own mixing normal driver training with freelance instructor training. By 2012 I was back with another one of the local schools as their in-house instructor trainer.

In 2015 I joined Liam Greaney and have been moving forward ever since.

• IAM Advanced Driver
• TCIT Train the Trainer
• RoSPA Gold

In 2014 I became a driving instructor. Prior to that as part of my previous role I spent 15 years training and coaching adults to further their career. I have started training instructors for Driving-Pro now and like to think that all my previous training and experience is being used in this role. As part of my preparation for this role I have worked with and been guided by Glen Robbins.

The training given by Glen to prepare me for this role have been excellent. His vast experience of training driving instructors to train people to become driving instructors  has paid off. Best of all Glen is always there at the end of a phone if you need him. This is the same commitment that I extend to my trainee’s.

By being involved with Driving-Pro I know that there is always support for both me and my trainee’s. We have regular meeting and social events. In some ways we are like a big family. More so for me than the others as my son-in-law was one of my trainee’s and is now working with us.

It is a real privilege to work with some great trainers that we have on the Driving-Pro team. I like to think that all my previous training and experience is being used in this role. Just like all our other trainers I have worked with and been guided by Glen Robbins. And what an eye opener!

Glen is always there for you. I know with Driving-Pro that they have such a vast amount of experience that anything I don’t know one of the others will. Between Glen, Liam and Doug they have over 100 years experience. Each one of them has more experience than some of the other schools combined.

By being involved with Driving-Pro is in some ways like a big family. We certainly have a good group of lady instructors. The fact we have a safeguarding and confidential listening officer is important to me as this shows the values that Driving-Pro have and are prepared to put effort into.

If any one is more comfortable with being trained by a female, I’m the lady for you.

I have over 35 years of either driving for a living or teaching people to drive for a living. My role in the team is to provide direction and support for everyone.

My qualifications include:

• Diploma in Driver Education (Dip DE)
• BTEC Level 4 Driver Coaching
• DIA Diamond Advanced Driving Instructor
• The RoSPA Diploma in Advanced Driving Instruction
• TCIT Train the Trainer
• C & G Further and Adult Teachers Certificate Parts 1 & 2

My job is to be there and listen, especially if someone is more comfortable talking to a woman. If any of the boys get a bit too big for their boots they will soon find out who really wears the trousers.

My qualification for this is being Liam’s wife.
